Important update: it is now clear that the wiretap in question with Wayne Gretzky happened AS the information about the ring was going public, and was, more or less, Wayne going "WTF is this gambling thing, and WTF is my wife doing involved in it?" -- so it seems he didn't have advance knowledge of what tochhet was allegedly doing. So it seems I jumped to a conclusion below, and I owe the Great One an apology. Of course, so do many of the media who've worked so hard to make him a part of this whole fiasco -- when it more and more looks like he WAS telling the truth all along.
Sorry, Wayne, for not believing you.
And now, this whole thing goes back to being really bad for Tocchet, and a big non-issue (except for possible visits by the IRS over non-reported winnings) for pretty much everyone else in hockey land -- no matter how hard the media tries to make it a global scandal.
